Day Ninteen Please keep a inventory i.e Dairy Starting From Sunday to Saturday
With Food and Drink A M PM. Moods and activities ,Exercise andStretching
Relaxation, since this is a Week end Please Get your Weight Checked Resting pulise beats/minutes Blood Pressure Cholestrol/mgdeciliter. By this week end you Might have Finished 7 days regular walking for 30 minutes and 11/2 miles per day.
Chek the Fat: This week is structured especially for people who want to lose weight. But first, a new goal for everyone. In week 2 , servings of high fat food were cut in half. Starting this week, try to cut back to eight servings a week. To accomplish this may mean saying “no thanks” to butter one night dinner; frying up onions, mushrooms, and tofu instead of steak; pilling your potato with low-fat yogurt instead of sourcream. Keep substituting and finding ways to enjoy!
For weight-watchers only: Have you noticed? To date, there’s been no information about weight loss. In fact, over the past months, you’ve counted everything –fat, fiber,
Calcium,sodium,laughs-everything but calories. So may be you’re wondering when the
Heavy duty dieting starts.
Believe it or not, your weight-control program began three months ago, and is going
Strong. If you’ve been following he suggestions week by week, then you probably are shedding fat.
The beautry of the life-style outlines here is that if you need to lose weight—you will.
Calorie counting does have its place in a weight loss plan—but remember.
Regular aerobic exercise is one of the most effective diet tricks around. It burns calories, creates muscle, which requires more calories to sustain, and increases metabolism all day long. And contrary to popular mythology, it will not give you Godzill’s appetite!
A low fat/high –fiber diet is an other effective weight loss tactic; it fills you up with a minimum of calories and reduces the number of calories that your body turns into fat.
Losing weight has been compared to building a house: The longer it takes to do it, the longer it’s apt to last.
Suppose you’ve been following the program faithfully, but still aren’t dropping pounds at the pace you’d like?Don’t despair. If you are exercising, you’re probably building muscle. Which weighs more than fat. It also looks much better in a bathing suit!
If the scale just isn’t budging, and your clothes aren’t getting looser, either, then it’s probably time for you to count calories.
Use the Superfoods chart to estimate your calories for a day in Week. Now count up the calories and see if they exceed the levels outlined in the accompanying box.
The good thing about counting calories is that it can make you aware of hidden sources. For example, did you know that eight ounces of orange juice contain 112 calories, more than twice as much as the same amount of tomatojuice? If you downed half a pitcher of citrus juice after your last walk in the sun, you’re probably hitting your forehead and saying—“Gee! I could’ve had a V-81” or a glass of mineral water, for that matter

Day Eighteen: Important information Regarding Weight loss Secrets: You probably already know that just being 20 percent above your ideal weight can harmful to your health. And If you have extra pounds, you’ve probably tried to lose them. But you found That it was a tough job, or that you lost the weight only to have it come right back. That’s A common experience. But there is an alternative.
One of the secrets of successful weight loss has already been discussed. Exercise. Any type of exercise.just as long as you do it regularly, will help lose weight. Another secret is good all-round nutrition.”I think that people should definitely eat a balanced diet and get good nourishment to keep their overall healthup, and to help them lose weight if they need to,
A balanced diet might include an emphasis on fresh fruits grains and vegetables , and replacing saturated (animal)fats with polyunsaturated and monounsaturated (vegetable)
Fats and eating more fish. This diet would help you lose weight, and some doctors, believe it might have a pain-reducing effect as well. A study of Albany Medical College, State University of New York, found that people on a diet high in vegetable fats supplemented with high in vegetable fats, supplemented with eicosapentanoic acid.(EPA)
a factor found in fish oil, experienced a drop in morning stiffness and fewer tender joints than people eating a diet high in animal fats. The researchers say the diet might reduce substances produced in the body (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation. As said , the diet would probably help you lose weight, especially if you combined it with perhaps the most secret weight loss secret of them all ---time
No weight loss plan will have lasting results if you don’t give it time to work. “You have to have a reasonable diet,””One you can live with. That means you shouldn’t choose a grapefruit diet, because you’ll soon get sick of grapefruits, Or a banana diet, because you will soon get very tired of bananas. Don’t kid yourself. You’ve got to find a
Diet nutritionist or your doctor can help you that is realistic. If you do need to lose weight, do it gradually. And do it under a doctor’s supervision. Just remember to give it time.
Time, lonely, isolated time ,is one thing many arthritis, suffers feel they have too much
of. And few things make a person feel older too much idle . So an important part of beating arthritis is maintaining the right attitude.

Day Seventeen :Color Code Your Diet for Health: Riddle: What’s green and yellow and orange-red all over? Give up? The answer should be on your plate: fruits and vegetables. Mom was right, and so was popeye. It’s not simply a matter of vitamins, minerals and fiber—as if those weren’t good enough reasons to eat this delicious, low-calorie fare provided fresh by Mother Nature.
Mounting scientific evidence suggests that eating fruits and vegetables has regenerative benefits. Eminenet authorities, from the National Academy of Sciences to the American Cancer Society, say orchard and garden have specific substances that may prevent disease. There is even evidence that these foods may reduce the risk wrought by years of bad habits, such as reducing the risk of lung cancer for smokers.
Check your food diary.Did you eat at least one serving of fresh fruits or vegetables at every meal? If not, it’s time to start. If you candecorate your plate as each meal with shades of green red, orange and yellow you”ll have a beautiful way of eating that will help put you in the pink!
Green for leafy vegetables like Popeye’s favorite, spinach, along with kale, parsley, beet greens, lettuce, chard and others. You’ve already seen the greens lauded as prime sources of calcium and fiber.
But perhaps most important, these green leavaes—along with broccoli and reddish fruits and vegetables—are highin vitamin A and beta-carotene, a specific form of vitamin A which scientific studies strongly indicate has a protective effect against a number of different cancers. In one study, the more carotene-rich vegetables people ate, the less risk they had of developing cancer.
And there’s more. The greens are good sources of vitamin C. Studies indicate that people whose diets are rich in vitamin C are less likely to get cancer, particularly of the stomach and esophagus. It may also keep the immune system healthy, enhance absorption of iron for strong blood and help control cholesterol level.s.
Another cancer-fighting substance in greens is chlorophyll, the green substance that runs sunlight into plant food. Scientists have found that chlorophyll has certain healing
Qualities, possibly including the ability to reduce the damage carcinogens wreak on cells. The Greens are fair sources of B vitamins, potassium magnesium and iron.
Green. This color identifies cabbage and its kin, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and their pale cousin cauliflower. This “cruciferous” family may have special cancer-fighting properties, in addition to fiber and vitamins A and C. People who consume these vegetables may have a lower risk of developing cancer; and tests in laboratory animals reveal that the cruciferous vegetables may prevent chemically-induced cancer.
Red and Orange. These are the”Piligrim”vegetables, like pump-kins, sweet potates squash, red peppers and carrots. They’re rich in bet-carotene, the nutrient linked to cancer prevention. They also provide plenty of fiber and other nutrients.
Red and orange are also for fruits like peaches, cherries, apricots, cantaloupes, mangoes and papaya, which are rich in beta-carotene, fiber and vitamins. These fruits also contain potassium.
Orange and Yellow. These colors mark citrus fruits. A group of Florida researchers note that in Florida colon cancer rates are lower than in the northern states. Many of the people who live in Florida have backyard citrus trees, and scientists say that the easy availability of the fruit may be the prime protective factor. They speculate that vitamins A,C and E, as well as the fiber pectin, may have a synergistic effect that helps prevent cancer.
What’s more, citrus fruitsoffer generous amounts of vitamin C and also provide some B vitamins, potassium and bioflavonds, nutritents that strengthen capillary walls. It’s not really difficult to add these color-coded foods to each and every meal. Breakfast is easy:a
Half-grapefruit,some orange juice—or if you’re late, an apple to munch on the way to work. These days, lunch is easy too. Most restaurants, and even some fast-food outlets, present beautiful salad bars.
Dinner can fill out the day if you have soup that contains vegetables, a salad and two vegetables with your entrée. Still hungry? Have a piece of fruit.!

Day Fourteen: At Home: This is where it’s easiest to ebb the salt tide. If you haven’t already, invest in one oftheherbal salt substitutes. By the say, we recommend avoiding potassium chloride, the most common salt substitute and lookalike. The Food and Drug Administration says no one, especially children, should use it without
Doctor’s O.K. too much can be dangerous, especially if you’re being Being treated for certain medical conditions, like diabetes or kidney or heart disease.
• Limit yourself to two or three soft drinks,a week or less (unless you buy the sodium-free variety).
• Limit fast foods, processed foods and convenience foods, unless they specifically indicate that they’re low in sodium
• Say”no thanks” to high-salt, meats like bacon, ham, sausage, frankfurther and luncheon meats. Pass up the salted nuts, pickles and sauerkraut.
• Fill your shaker with herbs or in the beginning, half herbs and half salt.Cut your use of salt in cooking by two-thirds.
• Go easy on cheese—it tends to be high in salt as well as fat.
At the Market The front lineof your battle againstsalt is the supermarket aisle. Check labels for sodium content. Everything from soup to nuts is available in low sodium varieties these days—not to mention low sodium chese, crackers, pretzels and pickles.
Put Laugher into Your Life:This week you should look again at the diary and kept for the first week. What you’re looking for this time isn’t exactly exercise, though
It gets the body moving and turns the cheeks pink. It isn’t exactly a nutrient though it is nourishing. It’s laughter.
Do you remember laughing that week? Did you laugh today? If you’re not meeting the recommended daily requirement of lots of laughter and joy every single day, then you should make it a priority!
The advice comes from a growing number of doctors, psychologists and “layman”---like Norman Cousins, former Saturday Review editor, who, in his bestselling book Anatomy of an illness(Bantam), describes how he recovered from debilitating spinal disorder by checking out of the hospital(“A hospital is no place to be for a person who is seriously ill,”he writes), and into a hotel room. There he entertained himself with humorous books and films like those of the Marx Brotheres as well as television show reruns like Candid Camera. “I made the joyous discovery that 10 minutes of genuine belly laugher had an anesthetic effect, and would give me at least two hours of pain-free sleep.”
He recovered from the disease,he says beating 500 to 1 odds. Later, he was appointed a senior lecturer at the university of California School of Medicine at Los Angels. After long years resistance, the medical establishment has admitted—and proven the power
That thinking has over health.
“Normal Cousins call laughter an internal jog, and what I like about it is that you don’t have to weal a special outfit.” Says Joyce Anisman-Saltman, a brassy, Brooklyn-bread, certified psychotherapist, assistant professor of Special Education at Southeren Connecticut State University,New Haven, and sometime-standup commedience, who teaches executives, teachers and clients all over he country how to take responsibility for
Putting more laughter into their lives. Anisman-Saltman notes that laughter brings on a host of physiological changes, ranging from the release of painkilling endorphins(which accounts for drug-relief) to a “cleansing “ tearing of the eye”so the world looks brighter,”to an expansion of the capillaries under the cheeks.” “That makes you cheeks pink” she notes “you’ll notice that my cheeks are always pink.” (They ae) “I never wear blush or foundation. It’s because I laugh hard and often. You’ll save a bundle on cosmetics. And it’s especially important for men, who look tacky in blush.”

People can fall into. Laughter can renew their prospective. Here is her advice for putting more laughter and joy into your life;
“Make a list of 20 things you like to do. They don’t all have to be ambitious things, like taking a trip around the world. My list includes things like, “Take showers,”Get my back scratched,” listen to music while I drive`Every single day I do 18 of the 20 things on my list, and if my husband’s not tired, 19.Don’t wait for vacations to nurture yourself—the vacations may never come. But good to yourself every day.

If you can afford it,get a VCR This adjunct to a television is a must for chronic pain patients. Use it to record programs that tickle you—Buddy Hackett reruns, the Cosby show, whatever. Then you can watch them anytime you want.

Day Thirteen :Shake Your Salt Habit:- You know that your body needs salt—but did you know that it needs only a quarter teaspoon a day? There’s no doubt
Whatever that salt, a guest almost every kitchen table in America, can contribute to high blood pressure. Even moderate cutbacks in salt can help bring a persons’s blood pressure down to healthier levels.
But unfortunately, salt like fat, canbe hard to avoid because so much of it is invisible—tucked into processed foods, commercial baked goods and fast foods,Soft drinks can be notoriously high in the stuff: So even if you’ve virtuously replaced the salt in your shaker with an herbal mixture, you used in your homemade pasts recipe, the cheese you’re eating to boost calcium levels. A little vigilance is in order!
The other problem is that salt is a little bit”additictive,” If you try to go cold Turkey, foods may taste flavorless at first. There are several ways around this dilemma. One is a little creative herbcraft, which puts even better flavor into foods.
And the salt craving usually diminish overtime. Scientists at the University of California at Davis School of Medicine Illustrated it was so. They restricted the sodium intake of 43 people aged 25 to 49 .Another ground had no salt reduction. At the end of six months, both groups were served salted and unsalted soups, and were asked to mix the two until the soup reached the desired level of saltiness. The low
Sodium subjects reduced their salting level more than 5 0 percent, while other ground had virtually unchanged tastes.
A diet moderately low in sodium contains 2200 to 3,000 milligrams of sodium
Per day-the equivalent of about 1 to 1 ½ teaspoons. If your diet is heavy on the prepared and processed foods, and if you eat in restaurants – or friends’s house,
For that mater-it is quite likely you’re getting too much salt.
Use the Superfoods chart to estimate your sodium intake during at least two days you tracked the first week. If you find that the figure is high, it‘s time to take action! Continues……..

Day Eleven: Check your calcium: This is the week to hug a farmer: because the milk they squeeze from cows and the greens they pull from the earth are among the best sources of a nutrient that’s vital to staying healthy and active calcium.
Women, play special attention. You’re most susceptible to a disease called osteoporosis , thinning and weakening of the bones, a problem which some experts say is virtually an epidemic among older American females. Calcium may help prevent the disease. And even help prevent the disease. And even if you’ve already started to lose bone density, adequate amounts of calcium plus regular exercise can help stop the loss and strengthen the bones you have left.
But this milk’s for you too, Bud!. It’s not just women who should keep calcium intake up. Studies suggest that calcium may help prevent high blood pressure significantly in some hypertensives. Other studies report that calcium has been used successfully to treat gum disease and to lower blood fats. Some people even claim that taking extra calcium has relieved their muscle crams and spasms.
