Future Youth

Day Twenty Two:- Picture the New You;- Walk for 35 minutes and one and three fourth Mile.

Take a moment right now to think about the not-so-distant future, nine months from today. Turn to the end of your Year of Rejuvenation program and, in your mind, fill out the blanks of final inventory.

Can you see yourself that week, filter and more energetic, eating right and exercising regularly?

If this picture is clearly focused, you may have come a long way toward making it a reality. A technique called “visualization,” playing out positive images in your mind, can benefit your weel-being in many ways. Psychologists have used visualization to help people change their behaviors, their bodies and even their lives.

Peter miller, Ph.D., executive director of Hilton Head Institute in Hilton Head, South Carolina, uses visualization to Motivate overweight people to trim down. “We tell them

To imagine that they are about 20 pounds lighter…”Then we ask them to imagine how it would be feel to be shopping for flattering clothes, or to be working in an office or to be in certain family situations. It’s important for them to visualize themselves behaving differently rather than just appearing different.

The power of visualization has been used for other kinds of physical improvement, too. Suki Rappaport ,Ph.D., movement educator, fitness consultant and director of the Transformations Institute, in Corte Madera, California has studied and interviewed 25 people who have accomplished remarkable physical transformations, like overcoming disfiguring accidents, in some say slowing the aging process and conditioning their body to anextraordinary degree. “All these people told me the same thing,” says Dr. Rappaport. “They all had an image in their minds of who and what they wanted to be. And they literally grew their physical body into that imagined form.”

Every one has the ability to transform himself orherself, says Dr. Rappaport, But “We must not only learn to create positive images and hold them in our mind, but to act upon them..The Image guides and reinforces those acts, and vice versa.”

One super-athlete who has used visualization to motivate and change himself is bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. “When I train the biceps, I picture hume mountains, much bigger than biceps can ever be, “says Schwarzenegger. “My wanting to be Mr. Universe came about because I saw myself so clearly being up there on the stage and wining.”

So this week, begin a painting a brighter picture of the future you!
Thanks for patience reading
